How the Stacked referral programme works
Refer a mate to Stacked and you both earn Bitcoin. Here's how it works.
What you earn
Sign-up bonus: $5 NZD in Bitcoin to both you and your mate when they open a new Stacked account using your referral code and complete identity verification.
Volume bonus: A further $15 NZD in Bitcoin to both of you when your mate reaches $500 NZD in cumulative transaction volume within 60 days of opening their account.
That's up to $20 in sats per successful referral, paid in real Bitcoin to your Stacked Wallet. There's no cap on how many people you can refer.
How to share your code
On the web
Go to My Account → Account → Referrals. Your unique referral code and shareable link are there - copy and send.
In the app
Open the Stacked tab and select Referrals. Your code lives there alongside an option to share directly.
How the rewards work
- Share your referral code or link with a mate
- They sign up to Stacked and enter your code during onboarding
- Once they complete identity verification, $5 in Bitcoin becomes claimable for both of you
- When their cumulative transaction volume hits $500 within 60 days of account opening, another $15 in Bitcoin becomes claimable for both of you
- Log in to the Stacked mobile app to claim your rewards into your Stacked Wallet
Reward amounts are denominated in NZD. The Bitcoin amount you receive is calculated using Stacked's quoted NZD/BTC rate at the time the reward is claimed.
Who can take part
- New Zealand residents aged 18 or over
- Your mate must be a brand-new Stacked customer (not a previous account holder or authorised signatory)
- Both accounts must be in good standing
- Stacked employees, contractors, and their immediate family members aren't eligible
What counts as transaction volume
Transaction volume includes all Stacked services your mate uses on their account: Buy, Sell, Bill Pay, and AutoStack.
The $500 threshold must be reached within 60 calendar days of their account-opening date. Partial progress doesn't roll over beyond that window.
Reversed, cancelled, refunded, disputed, or fraudulent transactions don't count.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit to how many people I can refer? No. Refer as many people as you like. Every successful referral earns you sats.
Does my mate have to enter the code at sign-up? Yes. The code needs to be entered during onboarding so we can connect the two accounts. Codes can't be applied retroactively.
Where do my rewards go? Rewards are claimed in your Stacked Wallet after logging in via the mobile app.
How long do I have to claim a reward? Unclaimed rewards expire 180 days after they become claimable. Log in and claim them before then.
What if my mate signs up but doesn't hit $500 in volume? You still get the $5 sign-up bonus from their verification. The $15 volume bonus only fires if they reach $500 in transaction volume within 60 days of opening their account.
Can I refer my partner using a different device? The referrer and referee need to be distinct individuals with distinct verified identities, devices, and funding sources. Self-referrals aren't allowed.
Are rewards in sats or NZD? Rewards are denominated in NZD and paid in Bitcoin, calculated at Stacked's quoted NZD/BTC rate at the time you claim.
Can I combine a referral with a promotional code? No. Promotional codes can't be combined with the referral programme.
Do I owe tax on my rewards? Possibly. Participants are responsible for any tax arising from rewards received. If you're unsure, talk to an accountant.
Anti-abuse
Stacked may withhold, reverse, or claw back rewards where there's reasonable suspicion of fraud, multi-accounting, collusion, wash trading, KYC circumvention, or any breach of our Terms of Service. Multiple accounts, false identities, or synthetic transaction activity will lead to disqualification and may result in account closure.
