Pay Anyone: Send Bitcoin to Someone Without a Wallet
By Stacked Team
Updated August 2026
What it is
Pay Anyone lets you send Bitcoin to someone even if they don't have a wallet yet. You create a link, fund it from your Stacked Wallet, and send it however you like: text, email, chat. The recipient opens the link, claims it, and the Bitcoin lands in their own Stacked Wallet. If they never claim it, the funds come back to you automatically.
Who can receive a link
The recipient needs to be in New Zealand, with access to the NZ App Store or NZ Google Play Store. They'll need the Stacked Wallet app to claim; it's currently limited to those two stores. If they already have a Stacked Wallet, claiming takes seconds. If they don't, the claim page walks them through downloading it first.
How to create a link
From your Stacked Wallet:
- Open Pay Anyone and tap Create Pay Anyone link.
- Enter an amount in sats or NZD. The app shows you the sats amount, converted at the current rate.
- Choose how long the link stays open: 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days.
- Optionally add your name and a message. Both show up on the recipient's claim page.
- Tap Create and fund link.
The sats leave your wallet the moment you create the link, and the amount is locked in at that point. Your recipient gets exactly what you sent, regardless of what the price does afterwards.
You'll get a shareable "banknote": a card with a QR code, a link number, and the date and time it expires. Share it, copy the link, or email the banknote directly.
How your recipient claims it
When they open the link, they'll see who sent it, how much, and any message you added. Tapping Claim opens it straight in their Stacked Wallet if they already have one, or takes them to download the app first. Once they open the link in the wallet, the Bitcoin is received automatically. There's no separate confirmation step.
Expiry, cancelling, and getting your funds back
If a link isn't claimed by the time it expires, the funds return to your wallet automatically. You don't need to do anything.
You can also cancel a link yourself at any time before it's claimed, and the funds are reversed back to your wallet immediately.
Limits and fees
- Between 1,000 sats and NZ$1,000 per link.
- No fee, no spread. Your recipient receives the full amount you send. Creating and claiming a link is free.
- Up to 20 active links at a time.
FAQ
Does my recipient need to verify their identity to claim?
No. The Bitcoin goes straight into their self-custody Stacked Wallet, so claiming a link doesn't require identity verification. If they go on to open a full Stacked account, standard verification applies at that point, same as any new customer.
Can I have more than one Pay Anyone link open at a time?
Yes, up to 20 at once.
What happens to the price between sending and claiming?
Nothing, on your end. The sats amount is fixed the moment you create the link, so your recipient gets that exact amount whether the price moves up or down before they claim it.
Is Pay Anyone available outside New Zealand?
Not yet. A Pay Anyone link can currently only be claimed by someone with access to the NZ App Store or NZ Google Play Store.
What happens to my funds while a link is open and unclaimed?
Stacked holds the funds briefly while the link is being processed. Once your recipient claims it, they're delivered straight to their wallet. If the link expires or you cancel it, they're returned to yours.
